Art historian specializing in contemporary art, curator, and researcher, Véronique Souben has worked in numerous institutions in France and Germany before directing the Fonds Régional d'Art Contemporain of Normandy-Rouen from 2010 to 2021. She will assume her new position on October 1, 2023. As the director of the Fonds Régional d'Art Contemporain (FRAC) of Normandy-Rouen, Véronique Souben successfully renewed the format of exhibitions, the approaches to the collection, and its distribution across the region, while also developing an innovative educational program aimed at young and disadvantaged audiences. She particularly highlighted FRAC's rich photographic collection through an active policy of acquisitions, thematic and monographic exhibitions, international conferences, and publications. Previously, as a curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design MARta Herford in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, she contributed to the design of the prefiguration and opening program of this interdisciplinary museum, which was inaugurated in 2005 in a building designed by Frank Gehry, and to its programming in close collaboration with its director, Jan Hoet.
